Evaluation

The Evaluation will consist of four reflections, or CCRs, on how our commercial successfully or unsuccessfully met the criteria of an advertisement and how well it appealed to our target audience, integrated technology, and more.

The questions answered include:
  1. How does your product use or challenge conventions, and how does it represent social groups or issues?
  2. How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text
  3. How did your production skills develop?
  4. How did you integrate technologies in the project?

Summary of CCRs

  • How well does the product meet the brief?
  • The product shows clearly that the main character's mascara lasts all day, even with all of the activities she does throughout an entire day.
  • How is the audience engaged?
  • The audience is hooked in by the relatable start of the ad, then kept engaged by fun, upbeat music and absurd cut-ins that tease them into staying for the rest of the ad.
  • Integration of Conventions & Technologies:
  • Filmed on 90D DLSR Canon camera
  • Edited on Premiere Pro
  • Utilized professional shotlist and call sheet
  • Strengths & Areas for Improvement:
    1. Strengths:
    • Product had clear branding and solid acting, making for a believable performance and made Smink a plausible part of everyday life.
    1. Weaknesses:
    • Could have followed typical advertisement conventions more closely
    • Message was a bit abstract to parody makeup ad conventions
